The seat-belt.

Today while in the Kroger parking lot, I watched an elderly couple come out of the store. The cashier who had waited on me just five minutes eariler, was pushing their cart for them out the door.

They were parked in front of my car, and as my mom talked to my aunt on the phone, I observed the old man, who was obviously having some hip & back trouble, open the door for his wife, who was very frail and sickly, and let her get it. He thanked the cashier who had kindly put his sacks in the backseat, then he walked around to the driver's side. He braced hisself with his hands and arms and slowly sat in the seat.

He pulled the seat-belt around his shoulder, squinting at the pain - his wife reached over and took the buckle from his hand and fastened it for him.

And I said, aloud to no-one, "I want a love like that."
